RAC named as leading breakdown provider in Telegraph Top Insurance Companies list

09 SEPT 2025

The RAC has been named by the Telegraph as a winning breakdown insurance provider.

It was the only major roadside assistance company to appear in the breakdown category – which covered both standalone policies and those added to car insurance. In addition, the service the RAC provides to Aviva’s car insurance customers was also featured in the top five.

The Telegraph teamed up with research firm Statista to find the best insurance companies across the board for 2025. They asked more than 3,100 people, including Telegraph readers, to rate their insurance provider across six key areas: trustworthiness, customer service, price, flexibility, digital services and damage services.

They also asked respondents about their overall satisfaction with the insurance provider, whether they would recommend it to others and whether they tended to remain loyal to the same company.

RAC chief executive Dave Hobday said: “Being recognised by The Telegraph as a leading breakdown insurance company – and the only company with a branded patrol force to be named – is very rewarding, especially coming the week after we announced such a strong first-half performance that’s set us up for our 14th year of consecutive growth.

“While we’re famous for the breakdown service we provide to 15m members, that’s just one of the three complementary offerings of our business. When also factoring in our insurance, and growing service, maintenance and repair divisions, we’re supporting UK drivers at every stage of their driving journeys.
