Decarbonisation
Our target is to achieve net zero by 2050 at the latest. We already have line of sight to a 50% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions per job by 2035, which would represent a 30% reduction in our total scope 1 and 2 emissions. We have set this as our interim target.
We work with partners and suppliers to reduce emissions across our supply chain.
There are four pillars to our decarbonisation plan:
- Route optimisation and driving behaviours.
- EVs and alternative fuels.
- Office emissions and waste.
- Sustainable procurement.
Route optimisation and driving behaviours
Our fleet is equipped with telematics, CCTV and recording equipment to continuously monitor driving behaviours. We use this data to identify areas for improvement in both safety and fuel efficiency, such as braking and acceleration, which we tackle through targeted training and performance management.
Where possible, we try to fix broken down vehicles remotely – providing a better breakdown experience for our members but also reducing our fuel consumption. Where a patrol is dispatched, we use sophisticated deployment techniques to dispatch the right vehicle to each job, first time.

EVs and alternative fuel
Our commercial fleet needs to be able to perform very specific functions. While our current fleet fully complies with strict Euro 6 emission standards, we work closely with motor manufacturers to identify alternative low or zero emission alternatives.
In our commercial fleet, we have 55 EVs on the road already, with a further 6 being rolled out later in 2025*. We also launched an HVO pilot in Q4 2024 in our recovery fleet which saved over 50kg of CO2E in 2024.
63% of our company car fleet were EVs at the end of 2024. Since the start of 2025 we’ve changed our policy so that any new company cars must be EVs, except in exceptional cases. In 2024, we saved 200kg of CO2E through EV adoption.
Office emissions and waste
We have three main office sites. In 2024, we reduced our office emissions by 25% through several initiatives. These include installation of LED lighting, energy metering and BMS inspections, contributing to more efficient use of chilled water, air conditioning and heating units.
We also launched targeted recycling campaigns and a site-wide reduction in single-use cups and takeaway food containers.
We comply with roadside waste requirements, either re-using or recycling the bulk of our waste. For example, we recycle or recondition over c.90% of batteries that we replace.
Sustainable procurement
We work closely with our suppliers to understand their approach to sustainability and share best practice. In 2025, we’re implementing software to track emissions in our supply chain with a view to taking targeted action in the areas which will make the most difference.
We also work with an extensive network of roadside sub-contractors, from national operators to smaller, owner-managed businesses. We surveyed the top 90% and set up a working group to share sustainability best practice.
